As a farmer, you have to process a high volume of manure. And in order to dispose of this manure successfully, you can choose from a variety of manure discharge systems and manure scraping systems. But how exactly do manure discharge systems work? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do manure discharge systems work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First of all, it is important to know the difference between a manure scraping system and a manure discharge system. Manure scraping systems<\/a> sweep the stables clean and manure discharge systems<\/a> transport manure to a manure storage unit, such as a pit or silo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The type of manure scraping system and manure discharge system chosen depends on the type of animal, the size of your stable, the type of floor and the litter used. When making your decision, please bear in mind that these systems should work well together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you choose a particular type of manure scraping system?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first step is choosing the right manure scraping system<\/a>. But what systems are available and when do you opt for a particular type? JOZ offers 5 different types of manure scrapers. Do you have a slatted floor? Then your choice is easy. You should use the slatted floor scraper<\/a>. The JOZ slatted floor scraper is a scraper that has the added advantage of not requiring a lateral guide. This scraper is equipped with rubber, which means that it cleans floors and walls perfectly and is animal friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have a closed floor? Then you can choose from a variety of different manure scraping systems: the folding scraper<\/a>, the flex scraper<\/a>, the multi-scraper<\/a> and the combination scraper<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta scraper<\/em><\/strong>
If you use (long) straw in your stables, then our folding scraper<\/a> is the best option. It is the most robust scraper in our range and is equipped with a special straw spoiler. This powerful tool is extremely robust and requires virtually no maintenance. The device only has 2 moving parts at the hinged point in the centre. This also makes the folding scraper highly suitable for stables with sand litter that are sensitive to wear. Large-scale stables in America often choose low-maintenance folding scrapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flex scraper<\/em><\/strong>
One type of folding scraper that is slightly less robust is the flexible scraper<\/a>. After the manure scraper has pushed away the manure, it returns partially collapsed, allowing cows to pass. That makes the flexible scraper extremely animal friendly. Another contributing factor is that the scraper is equipped with rubber. The rubber design also ensures optimal cleaning results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast to the Delta scraper, the flexible scraper only requires approximately one metre and a half to re-extend its manure arms, which means that it only fails to cover a small section of floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multi scraper<\/em><\/strong>
The multi-scraper<\/a> is our newest manure scraper model. The multi-scraper has 2 movable main wings. These wings close once the manure is pushed away and re-open when the manure scraper returns. From its resting position, the wings can re-open within 20 cm, enabling this type of scraper to clean virtually the entire surface of the floor. Thanks to its self-adjusting arms that follow the contours of the floor, the scraper also gives the surface a thorough clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its heavy-duty parts make it an incredibly sturdy manure scraper. And even if a part breaks, it is easy to replace. In addition, the scraper is also equipped with rounded corners, making it extremely cow-friendly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combi scraper<\/em><\/strong>
In principle, combi scrapers<\/a> work in the same way as multi-scrapers. They are just as efficient but have a more lightweight construction. They are a great option for smaller stables. JOZ supplies different types of combination scrapers, depending on the stable situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The different types of manure discharge systems<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to properly transport manure to the manure storage unit, a manure discharge system is required. You can choose from a side discharge system or a turning chain system. The turning chain system<\/a> is often placed under the floor and is suitable for stackable manure. The manure scraper transports the solid manure from the stable to the end of the manure alley and discharges it onto the turning chain system. This system then transports the manure to the manure storage unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A side discharge system is suitable for transporting both liquid manure as well as stackable manure. The kind of side discharge system<\/a> that we use is a single-arm folding scraper. When the system discharges the manure, the arm folds open and when the scraper returns, the arm folds shut. The single-arm folding scraper usually works along a channel on the side of the stable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the right choice for you?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, how do manure discharge systems work? With 2 types of systems: one that moves the manure out of the stable and one that discharges the manure further. But how do you choose and combine the right systems?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you use (long) straw in your stable, for example, you now know that the folding scraper is a good choice. But will that combine better with the turning chain system or with the side discharge system in your case? Every stable is different and the best combination of systems for your specific situation could be very different to that of your neighbour.
