By the end of 2021, Tassche Dairy was ready. The company bought four new milking robots from Fullwood JOZ and a feed pusher robot from JOZ at the same time. ‘One ensures that our cows have access to fresh feed 24\/7 and the other that they can be milked at any time,’ says Herald Tassche. ‘Together, the solutions have a big impact on the welfare of our animals.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A good combination of solutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Is the welfare of your animals your top priority? If so, there are a number of variables you can anticipate as a farmer. According to Herald, it has everything to do with feeding, milking, hygiene and comfort. ‘With a good combination of solutions to help you with that, you complete the circle,’ he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘For example, the combination of a feed pusher robot and a milking robot is ideal,’ he continues. \u2018Thanks to the Moov 2.0 feed pusher robot<\/a>, feed is always available. That means no stress, even for the cows that are slightly lower down the pecking order. And after they have fed, the cows are often also ready for the milking robot<\/a>. So there’s plenty of activity in the barn. But in a stress-free way.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The better we treat the cows, the better they are for us. For example, in addition to good milking and feeding solutions, we also provide comfortable cubicles. The cow mattresses have a thick layer of foam covered with rubber. That’s comfortable and protects the legs.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manure robots with spray system<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Good hygiene also affects the cow’s overall well-being. It helps prevent hoof disease, for example. ‘We use three JOZ-Techs with a spray system to keep the floors clean,’ Herald explains. ‘Particularly in summer, the manure can get caked on due to the dryness and then the surface becomes slippery. The JOZ-Techs spray water from the front and back of the robot. This keeps the manure moist, allowing it to be scraped away easily.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘The JOZ-Tech also has a nice wide scraper system,’ Herald continues. ‘At the same time, the robot does not move too fast, giving cows a chance to get out of the way. If they feel something pressing against their leg, they can easily walk away. The robot barely disturbs them.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With closed floors, you have to scrape every two hours. ‘And the JOZ-Tech does that very nicely and all on its own,’ says Herald. ‘As a farmer, you actually have very little to worry about. Our dealer ESL-agri<\/a> maintains the robots and sprayers for us. Every year, a mechanic replaces the rubbers, for example. We can then be sure that the scraper system will continue to work well. And that benefits us and the cows.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
