Circular farming: looking to the future

If you want to be successful in livestock farming and remain so, you have to continuously respond to change. Changes are driven by both developments in society and new technical possibilities. This is perfectly reflected in circular farming. Jan Wolbers, Livestock Farming Manager at GroeNoord Ag & Turf, talks about the importance of know-how and adaptability in doing business with an eye on the future.

What will the future bring?

‘‘We believe that livestock farmers should always keep looking to the future,’ says Jan. ‘Whereas people used to come to us because they needed a new tractor, these days advice plays an increasingly important role. Where are you hoping to get to? What will the future bring? And what solution is the best in this respect? We share our thoughts with the farmer.’

In this future-orientated approach, circular farming has an important role to play. ‘There’s a lot involved in everything that has to be done both in front of and behind the feed fence,’ according to Jan. Circular farming is all about converting manure into a valuable product. After all, manure contains valuable minerals, which are essential for farmers. This supports the transition from organic manure to mineral manure, which in turn relieves the pressure on both the farmer and the environment.

‘We consider every aspect, from feed to manure processing.
