What does a day in the life of a cow look like in 2015? To find out, top dealer Schrijver stalinrichting from Broekland (NL) made a video that pays a lot of attention to animal welfare, an important topic in the agricultural sector.
Cow welfare
A high level of animal welfare promotes high long-term milk yields. Martin Westerbeek, owner of Schrijver Stalinrichting, says, “Thanks to our knowledge and experience, we can give cows a five-star hotel experience. The quality of the interior design contributes to the welfare of the cow and ensures that the animals have the best possible living environment. Ultimately, this results in higher milk yields and cows living longer”.
For the general public and agricultural entrepreneurs
Schrijver would like the video to be seen by both the general public and agricultural entrepreneurs. “It’s nice for the general public to see what life looks like from a cow’s perspective,” Martin explains. “After all, what does a cow need to produce an average of 25 litres of milk per day? Agricultural entrepreneurs can also have a peek inside the cowshed of a fellow dairy farmer. A picture is worth a thousand words, and that also applies to the design of your agricultural business.”
