From slurry to RENURE in four steps
1. Manure separation
The manure from the barn is automatically separated into a solid fraction and a liquid fraction.
- Solid fraction: can be used as bio-bedding or organic fertilizer
- Liquid fraction: continues to the cracking process
2. Ammonia stripping
In the stripper compartment, the pH is increased, causing ammonia to be released rapidly. Through intensive recirculation (10–12 hours) in batches, the ammonia “evaporates,” removing more than 80% of the mineral nitrogen.
3. RENURE production
The captured ammonia is bound with acid in an air scrubber. The result:
- Ammonium sulfate (RENURE)
- Ammonium nitrate (RENURE)
4. Emission reduction in the stable
The treated liquid fraction is returned to the pit. Due to the lower ammonium concentration, NH₃ emissions decrease immediately.

For how many cows is the Gazoo suitable?
The Gazoo is suitable for farms of up to 300-350 cows. How is that calculated? The Gazoo is capable of processing 20 m3 of thin fraction per day. That works out to 7,300 m3 annually. Taking into account a separation efficiency of 80% thin fraction and 20% thick fraction, the Gazoo can process 9,125 m3 of slurry per year. 1 cow produces 25 to 30 m3 of slurry per year. That makes the Gazoo capable of processing the manure of 300 to 350 cows.
What is required for a functional installation?
A complete Gazoo setup consists of:
• manure separator
• microfilter
• storage bunker for the solid fraction
• buffer silos for the liquid fraction and RENURE
• the Gazoo unit itself
How much space does the installation take up?
The Gazoo is approximately 15 metres long, 3 metres wide and 3 metres high. Depending on the situation, this may also be combined with silos, a separator and a microfilter.
Can I continue using my own manure separator?
Yes. The Gazoo works seamlessly with existing separators, provided that the capacity and separation quality are sufficient.
What products does the Gazoo produce?
• RENURE (ammonium sulfate or ammonium nitrate)
• Cracked liquid fraction (manure water), containing only approximately 20% of the original ammonium nitrogen
How much RENURE is produced?
Depending on:
• number of animals
• ammonium content in the liquid fraction
• type of acid
• acid concentration
How much nitrogen does RENURE contain?
• 96% sulfuric acid → approximately 5% N
• 53% nitric acid → approximately 10% N
Do I need to use fresh daily manure?
No. The Gazoo works with ammonia, not methane. Fresh daily manure is only relevant for digesters.
Is the Gazoo ready for the new RENURE regulations?
Yes. The Gazoo produces RENURE that complies with the expected European and national criteria.
Am I already allowed to use RENURE on my land?
This depends on the final EU approval and Dutch implementation. The Gazoo produces RENURE that fits within the expected regulatory framework.
Does the Gazoo help with permitting or emission reduction requirements?
Yes. With approximately 80% less ammonium in the pit, barn emissions are significantly reduced.
How is the emission reduction demonstrated?
Through a nitrogen balance, ammonium analyses, and monitoring of RENURE production.
Can multiple livestock farmers share one Gazoo?
