Making work easier. That was the main reason why Cees van den Hengel decided to switch to automatic feed pushing. Together with his wife Gezina, he runs a dairy farm with 130 dairy cows in Haule, Friesland. ‘If I need to be away for a day, the feed pusher simply carries on. You can’t beat that.’
Convenience and better feed intake
When the Moov Pro was tested at Cees’ farm for two months, it quickly became clear: this one’s a keeper. ‘It makes life so much easier. Every hour, it pushes the feed closer to the feed fence. I used to do that myself, but not every hour. There simply isn’t enough time. Automating this process makes it continuous and the other obvious benefit is the increase in feed intake. That’s important for high milk yields, which are now 13,500 litres per cow.’
‘The work it saves me is more than worth the investment’
More than worth the investment
The Moov Pro is an investment that pays for itself, both in terms of cash and labour savings. ‘I decided to lease the Moov Pro, because that meant that I didn’t have to lay out as much cash. It’s difficult to be precise about how much frequent feeding actually yields in terms of working hours and milk production, but I’m sure about one thing: the convenience alone is more than worth the investment. I want to keep the Moov Pro forever.’

No problems in three years
Cees says that the Moov Pro is very easy to use, and simply does what it’s supposed to do. ‘It’s actually trouble-free. In the past three years, we’ve had no problems at all. Any hiccups we did come across were usually due to human error, such as something obstructing the robot along the route. After the one-time installation, you can simply let it get on with the job.’
